Mayor of the Utena District Municipality, member of the republic-level council of the Social Democratic Party of Lithuania, member of the presidium of the Social Democratic Party of Lithuania, chair of the Utena branch of the Social Democratic Party of Lithuania, member of the board of the Alumni Club of the Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences, poet, has published two books of poetry: “Sienos iš vėjo” (2006) and “Nugalėję lygumas” (2011), member of the Lithuanian Writers Union, member of the Utena litterateurs club “Verdenė”.
Graduated in 1978 from the Utena 2nd Secondary School (now known as the Rapolas Šaltenis School).
From 1978 to 1982, studied at the Vilnius Pedagogical Institute (now known as the Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences).
From 1986 to 1988, the head of the Culture Division of the Utena Executive Committee of the Council of People’s Deputies.
From 1988 to 1990, head of the Ideology Division of the Utena Committee of the Lithuanian Communist Party.
From 1996 to 1998, proofreader and press representative of the Administration of the Governor of Utena County.
From 2000 to 2001, director of the Utena Youth School.
From 2001 to 2003, deputy mayor of the Utena District Municipality.
Since 2003, mayor of the Utena District Municipality.
Represents the Social Democratic Party of Lithuania.
Married. Wife Daiva works as a teacher of Lithuanian language at the Utena Dauniškis Gymnasium, daughter Vaiva lives in Great Britain and works at the Bank of England.
Hobbies: mushroom-gathering in the forest, fishing, compiling and editing books of poetry.
